A room full of Nellies.

You know this was TWO years ago. I happen to agree with FancyPants in regard to he manned up and it's bridge water. *waves at Fancy*

I'm stating this because I keep seeing this getting linked to as a 'See how AF is SATAN!" point is while I love the traffic, really,  not only is not not how I feel anymore (in most regard) but it is't fair to Tony.

We all fuck up. He fucked up on a GRAND scale. And while AF and it's forums in particular, aren't for me, I'm not comfortable being used out of context to show someone in a negative light. While it was enough to boggle my socks, it hasn't happened again that I know of.

Goat

p.s. Yes, I really did get death threats I still have them in 'comments' , but I'm sure those  people are much saner now as well. Right?

Yes, he really did all those things. Yes, he's apologized. As for my being credible, well, that's all a point of perspective, isn't it?

  1. I don't think the Etsy forums are all that bad. So ok, you're a little mouthy, but you haven't managed to ruin the forums... :D

  2. I'm not powerful enough yet. But, the mere thought of me posting there is enough to strike fear into the anti sullying crowd on AF.

    Soon, Etsy....soon...

  3. I jumped off the AF bandwagon awhile ago, being really tired of an organization that was obsessed with Etsy to the point that once they got your money, they forgot about you...I even removed all my listings, politely asked Admin not once but THREE times to pick up on the fact that i was self-destructing there to make my point, and got zero response til I had Paypal delete the account from their monthly payment schedule-almost immediately, there was a computer-generated letter about how there must be some mistake...
To be frank, I always thought the Forums there were a bit whipped, to put it politely...and too many of the bonkerbabes from
Etsy's reject pile wound up there...not a good sign.
You have a good product and if the sales there warrant staying, you probably should...

  4. This is so weird, I published both your comments but just one popped up. Anyone who can make it through that thread and stand to read what Tony is writing will get a very chilling glimpse through the facade that AF's Free Speech is.

What he did was abusive. You don't 'teach people a lesson' that, is being a bully.

  5. I saw that whole thing yesterday on AF. It was disgusting. I don't like their forums anyway. Before the Tony drama, there was a seller calling out her customer over giving her a 9 for communication. I never saw such a bunch of crap in my life. Like, seriously, is that all you have to worry about? A 9? OMG! I doubt I'll be going back to that disjoint bunch of angry people. Ugh.

  6. I found it really well, unsettling, here Tony chums it up for months and months, makes sellers feel like 'part of the team' and then Bam! it's like being sucker punched, I would imagine.

The damage Tony has done in regard to the trust and relationship with the sellers of AF will be resounding for quite a few days.

The idea that John would be behind this is discouraging and really a betrayal. Perhaps if they hadn't ried so hard to be the Not Etsy they could have grown on thier own merit.

But to lure sellers in with 'community' and then this, not to mention CC has worked her ass of to promote and support AF, gratis, because she believed in it and because she was made to feel included and important.

I cannot imagine what it must have been like to have that asshole turn around and say "I made an example out of you."

    ............

Even crazier? That customer was Creative Jen another AF seller who didn't feel Ren had thanked her for her purchase fast enough.

Yep, another AF seller got another AF's seller FB dropped because she didn't feel her ass had been kissed promptly enough.

And then the whole thread turns into this "What if the buyer see's us all talking like this?"

Ladies, if that's the way it goes down, buyers are the least of your worries.

  8. I read the AF thread. Pretty sad that the VP had continued to bashed a seller on that site in public. His display was incredibly immature and telling of the entire site. The insistent need to bash E and its sellers to make AF 'look' good? That worked out well. Good luck AF, you're going to need it.

  9. I like selling on Artfire but the past month, they've made some really bad decisions and starting to piss alot of people off. Not good for a new site. They're still trying to break into the market.
    1) Putting people on probation with no warning- that is all over now. Did you think that wouldn't get noticed. They're not just vocal on Artfire.
    2) Ugly Nascar banner but bragging about raising rates in the forum.
    3) rearranging categories wasn't bad but placage of some categories are couterintuitive and the answer is SEO and Breadcrumbs,
4)same answer was given for not making it manuver thru a studio when browsing thru categories
    5) Allowing commercial stationary as supplies- like hello kitty pencils and commercial stickers

All this is adding up to we want money, artist be damned

  10. I left the AF forums for most of Friday night and part of yesterday, and more craziness goes down? I can't even catch up becuase the threads are gone. I probably shouldn't anyway.

    Wow! Wow!

Maybe, I should consider moving my primary shop back to Etsy. I hate the having to list and relist all the time, and not having coupon codes but it might be worth it.
